Urban Farm

“La Ferme Urbaine” is a photojournalistic project documenting the urban farm of Neder-Over-Heembeek in Brussels, Belgium.

The series explores an alternative approach to agriculture within an urban environment, where farming is carried out on a human scale, often using manual tools and hands-on methods. Situated next an industrial agricultural site, the farm exists in quiet contrast to larger-scale, mechanized food production, creating a subtle dialogue between human effort and machine-driven efficiency.

Through a documentary lens, Aline captures the rhythms of daily work, the people behind the initiative, and the relationship between nature, food, and the city. Rather than focusing solely on agriculture as a system, the project highlights gestures, collaboration, and the lived reality of cultivating land within an urban context.

The work reflects on different ways of producing food and shaping space — where one approach is rooted in manual care and proximity, and the other in scale and industrial logic.

The project was created in 2016 in Neder-Over-Heembeek, Brussels.
